FUNERAL RITES HELD AT MAYPEARL FOR LATE JOHN J. BROOKS.
Funeral rites for John J. Brooks, 90, retired farmer, long-time resiben t and oldest citizen of Maypearl who died at his home there Sunday, we re held at the Baptist Church of Maypearl at 4 p. m., Monday with the R ev. W. C. Perry officiating. Burial was in the Maypearl Cemetery. Mrs . W. C. Perry, vocal soloist and Mrs. B. Witten, pianist, furnished the r equest number "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were grandsons of Mr. Brooks .
A native of Murray County, Tennessee, Mr. Brooks came to Texas in 1890, s ettling at Cedar Hill, Dallas County and moved to Ellis County in 1900. H e was a member of the Baptist Church. In 1876, he was married to Mary E . Jones and to this union six children were born, two of whom survive, M rs. J. A. Fitzgerald of Paul Valley's, Oklahoma and Finis Brooks, home a ddress. In 1888, he was married to Miss Addie Tuley, who died seven ye ars ago. Their daughter, Mrs. Elmer Hensley of Dallas is the only surv ivor of this marriage. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and five great g randchildren.
