He was born after his mother was bed-ridden with TB. Dr. Willis deliv ered him and forbade Emma to nurse him, hoping somehow to save him from t he TB. Louella fed him Eagle Brand milk, often getting up in the middl e of the night. However, he was skinny and frail when he was born, and h e never gained any weight. He was always just "a sack of bones," dying f rom TB. He didn't cry much. He finally just went to sleep and didn't w ake up. He only lived about 3 months.
