Della had curly hair like her mother. She went with Sam Dukes for qui te a while, and he was crazy about her. However, Bud Barber came along a nd swept her off her feet. She married Bud in November 1926, and came d own with TB 2-3 months later. She died fast. She was in a TB sanitari um in Hazelwood, KY, but she came home to die. Louella took care of he r until she died, at their father's home, after about one month. Durin g the time she cared for Della Louella lost their mother's wedding ring , which she was wearing but which was too loose.
