as GTDatabase #2837. Uriah Lamar came to what became Spencer County
in 1806 and settled on land a mile or so north east of what is now Grandview,
Indiana. After Indiana became a state, and Spencer Couny was formed, Uriah became
a Justice of the Peace in September 1818. Uriah was also elected sheriff in
1822 and again in 1834. A wonderful account of Uriah and Chief Set-te-Down is
included in the Sesquicentennial.
