William Cooper enlisted in Harford County, Maryland on July 15, 1776 and served as a Private in Lieutenant Tannahill and Captain Alexander L. Smiths Rifle Regulars, Colonel Moses Rawlings Rifle Regiment. Private Cooper was in the following battles, Trenton, Princeton, Brandywine, Germantown and Monmouth. He was discharged by Capt. Thomas Beall, July 15, 1779 at Fort Pitt in Maryland. He and his wife Mary (Polly Harrison ) Cooper received a pension on account of his service. See claim # W 8632 at National Archives ! |
