| He was known to the family as the "eccentric one". He described himself as as a "huckster". He sold Bible tracts and "bluing, which he made" for a living. He would read only the Bible and was considered an authority. He was associated with the "Free Methodists". He would not take pay for his preaching. There is a William Tooley in 1880 in Gainesville, Cooke Co., TX. He is also on the 1900 Dallas Co., TX census as a boarder with J. H. Ellamis. |
