It is known that the one who said the words over the body of Nancy Hank s Lincoln (mother to Abraham) was Young Lamar, who was Pastor at the time of her death. Also, it may have been his wife who was with Abraham' s sister Sarah when she died in childbirth. (Told by Dennis Friend Hanks, "My Cousin Abe, by Aileen Fisher, 1962") (Of course, as told by Dennis, Young Lamar was not the 1st choice for the sermon).

He did remove to Gibson County, Indiana to continue with his pastorship.
Young Lamar is probably a cousin of Benjamin, Samuel and Uriah. Young and Uriah were guardians for Samuel's minir son. |
