| Alvis was a good man, though he didn't work much, and he was somewhat " dumb." He dug cellars and did a little carpentry. Aunt Sis supported t he family. He suffered from "nigger consumption" (asthma) and had to s leep sitting up in a straight-backed chair so he could breath. People s aid he was lazy, but he did have severe asthma, so??? |
