FHL CATALOG NOTE: Jonathan Gillet (d.1677) was the son of Rev. William Gyllett (d.1641) of Chaffcombe, Somerset Co., England. Jonathan and his brother Nathan emigrated to Massachusetts Colony in 1630, settling with the Puritans. By 1633, he had returned to England and married Mary Dolbiar/Dolbere (b.1607) of Colyton, Devonshire, Eng. By 1634, they had returned to the Colony. His brother Nathan married Elizabeth (d.1670), she died at Simsbury, Conn. They were the parents of eight children. Jonathan and Mary were the parents of seven children. Mary Gillet (d.1685-86) died at Windsor, Conn. Another brother, Jeremiah also emigrated and left children. The descendants of these three brothers remained near Windsor, Simsbury and Wethersfield, Conn. for the first four or five generations.
