DRIVE ON SLED CAR-HITCHER
Police Arrest a Driver and Book Riders as Witnesses.
Police will arrest persons riding on sleds drawn by motor cars, and the d rivers as well, Serg t. G.M.Burns, head of the police accident investig ation squad, said last night.
William Burch and E.K. Burgard, members of the accident squad, about 9 o 'clock saw two boys a nd two girls on a sled chained to a moving car on I ndependence avenue near Hardesty. Taken t o the Sheffield police stati on, the driver, A.J. Halburton, 23 years old, 3303 Michigan avenu e, wa s booked on a technical charge of careless driving.
On the sled, police said, were Frances Gorman, 17 years old, Shawnee, K as.; Jean Harmon, 22 , of 3909 Sunrise drive, and Ben Phillips, 12, and h is brother, W.T. Phillips, 23, both of 27 20 East Fortieth street. The t wo girls and W.T. Phillips were booked as witnesses and releas ed on $2 5 personal bonds. Halburton was released on $25 cash bond.
